Davincified Paint by Numbers Kits review

Last Christmas, a friend gave me a colouring book called ‘Cats Being Dicks‘, in which I spent many happy hours colouring in cats being dicks in various ways. This whetted my appetite for more arty stuff, so when Davincified asked me if I wanted to review their paint by numbers kits, I thought, ‘Yeah, why not?’ But when I delved deeper into their website and saw I could get a personalised paint by numbers kit by uploading a photo, I thought, ‘Ohhhhhh, I can do paintings of my cats. HELL YEAH!’

You don’t have to go down the personalised route, there are literally thousands of Davincified paint by numbers kits available but if you do want to upload your own photo, there are also a ton of options there to choose from.

As you can see below, I decided to immortalise my cat, Squidge, in the style of Van Gogh’s Starry Starry Night. I also got a kit of my other cat, Biscuit, posing as Mona Lisa.

What’s in the box?

As you’d expect, in the Davincified paint by numbers kit is everything you need to create your masterpiece. Before you check out on their website, there are various options to choose from such as whether you want a stretched canvas (which is what I got) and which skill level you want to go for.

If you go for the easiest one, there’ll be fewer colours and less detail but more experienced paint-by-numberers can go for either of the next two levels. To help you choose you get a very handy preview of what the finished painting will look like, along with how many more hours it will take you to complete.

I went for the medium level which, in hindsight, was a mistake as I very much doubt I have either the patience or eyesight because, as you can see, there are a LOT of numbers in tiny spaces.

Still, with a bit of patience, dedication and a flask of tea by my side, I should be okay – that is, if Squidge lets me get on with it!
