I don’t usually have breakfast (I know… I know… most important meal of the day and that…). I do sometimes have a fruit smoothie but that doesn’t provide me with enough energy to get me through a workout, so as this morning I was going to the gym to do a body pump class, I thought I’d better have something more substantial.
The more substantial thing I had was Jordans new Super Fruity Granola. I like clusters in my cereal which is just as well as this granola contains clusters of toasted oat and honey with freeze dried raspberries, redcurrants and pomegranate. Don’t be put off by the dried fruit – it’s not like that nasty chewy bland stuff that comes in packets, this fruit is full of flavour, beautifully sharp and tangy, with a hint of sweetness.
I had a bowl of the granola with some chilled soya milk and I think I’ve just become a breakfast fan. I don’t want to say it has magical properties, but it certainly gave me more energy down the gym and I was able to lift heavier weights for the first time in months. Maybe there is something in this ‘breakfast sets you up for the day’ thing after all. Jordans Cereals did some research by conducting a survey into what makes the perfect morning – you can read the results here.
Jordans Super Fruity Granola is suitable for vegetarians (not vegans, as it contains honey), each 45g serving contains (without milk) 191 calories and is available from Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose with an RRP of £4.39 for a 750g pack.
