If you collect and send off six tokens from packs within the Allinson Bread range (plus a £2 contribution to cover postage and packaging) they’ll send you a herb garden, complete with parsley, basil and chives seeds, along with the compost to grow them in.
Alternatively you can collect and send three tokens from packs along with a cheque for £5 (which includes postage and packaging). Tokens are available on packs until the end of July.
My seeds have sprouted but they haven’t got very big yet, probably because we haven’t had any sun (Allinsons don’t provide that, unfortunately), but the box they’re growing in is beautiful.
Inspired by my herb garden, today for lunch I made a basil pesto, mozzarella and tomato panini. You probably don’t really need a recipe for it, but here it is anyway.
Basil Pesto, Mozzarella and Tomato Panini
1 seeded panini
1/2 ball mozzarella, sliced
Basil pesto (shop bought or home made)
2 baby plum tomatoes, sliced
Handful of fresh basil leaves
Slice the panini in half lengthways
Spread some pesto on each half of the panini
Layer the sliced mozzarella on one half of the panini
Layer the sliced baby plus tomatoes on top of the mozzarella
Lay a few fresh basil leaves on top of the tomatoes
Place the other half of the panini on the tomatoes
